The volume icon does not appear in the notification area (system tray)
Open Sound and Audio Devices Properties or
Click Start > Click Run> Type 『mmsys.cpl』 then press 『OK』
Check the 『Place volume icon in the taskbar』 checkbox.
Click Start > Click Run > Type 『regsvr32 stobject.dll』 then press 『OK』
A message should popup saying that stobject.dll registered
